Byron A. Martin is one of Canada's top producers specializing in film, television and documentary production. He is a highly respected Canadian producer with a career distinguished by his commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in film and television. Byron has championed the stories of racialized communities, LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, and other historically underrepresented groups and such causes as climate resilience, global health and development, culture and education, hunger and poverty, and broad societal improvements.

In addition to producing award-winning films under his company, Byron A. Martin Productions Inc., Byron has managed productions for many of Hollywood's major studios, networks, and leading producers. To date, he has produced projects for Disney, Sony, Universal, Turner, Great American Country, Bell Media, DHX, Lifetime, Crown Media, and more.

Byron has managed and produced over three-hundred million dollars in production in over 30 countries. Over his career, he has managed numerous feature films for some of Hollywood's leading producers, including Jerry Bruckheimer, Sam Raimi, Raffaellla De Laurentis, Laurence Mark, John Singleton, Mark Canton, Lauren Shuler Donner, Dick Wolf, Ralph Winter and Don Carmody.

He and his production company have been honoured with the MEDIA INNOVATOR AWARD (2021) by Corporate Vision Magazine; the BEST INDEPENDENT PRODUCER – CANADA AWARD (2017) by Softech's annual Gaming & Entertainment Awards; and, the BEST INDEPENDENT PRODUCER – CANADA AWARD (2016) by TMT News. His leadership was recognized further in 2001 when he received the BUSINESS RECOGNITION AWARD (2001) from the City of Toronto.

Byron has also produced numerous award winning films, twice receiving the coveted Norman Jewison Filmmaker Award. His film ADDICTION won the Great Canadian Shorts contest and CBC Telefest Awarded him Best Long Non Documentary for EVIL UNDERGROUND. His feature project SOMETHING LIKE TRUTH was the Canadian winner at the 2022 JETS initiative during Berlinale. Most recently, his film BEAUTIFUL EVENING, BEAUTIFUL DAY was shortlisted as Best International Feature for the 2025 Oscars.

In 2011, RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE (3D) was awarded The Golden Reel Award earning over $280 million worldwide, making it the most successful feature film in Canadian history. From THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK, LAND OF THE DEAD, RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE (3D) to AMERICAN PIE presents BET HOUSE and AMERICAN PIE presents THE NAKED MILE, Byron has a tremendous scale and scope of production experience.

Under his production banner, Byron A. Martin Productions Inc., he has produced numerous award-winning feature documentaries including:

The international award-winning feature TOMORROW'S POWER, a social justice base d project filmed in Germany, Gaza and Colombia that deals with communities around the world transforming their environments through social change.

MANCATION, award-winning director Jim Donovan's premiere social documentary on a five men sailing trip.

Writer/Director Amy Miller's GAZA: HEALTH UNDER SIEGE, an in-depth look at life behind the wall.

CARBON RUSH, a film that examines the disturbing impact of the carbon offset market on indigenous communities around the world. The film screened at over 100 festivals, sold around the world and Red Deer Press published a book based on the movie, which is available in bookstores throughout North America.

Additional documentary credits include SIDS: A SPECIAL REPORT, NO TIME TO WAVE: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF BEN WICKS and THE GREAT RUN OF CHINA. Byron also produced both the 40th and 50th Directors Guild of Canada annual celebrations, shorts that were presented at the Directors Guild Awards.

Since 2017, Byron has served as the Hub of PRO (The Producers Roundtable of Ontario), an organization that represents about fifty feature film producers. Over the years, he has served also on the Film Liaison Industry Committee (FLIC), an advisory committee that acts on Toronto City Council's policy regarding support and encouragement for the film and television industry.

For almost fifteen years, Byron served on both the Directors Guild of Canada, National Executive Board and The Ontario District Council as the Location Caucus Representative, later serving on Ontario's Board as Secretary/Treasurer, 2nd Vice Chair, and 1st Vice Chair. He has also served on the Film Liaison Industry Committee (FLIC), an advisory committee that acts on Toronto City Council's policy regarding support and encouragement for the film and television industry.

He is a long standing member of the CMPA, DGC, DOC, a voting producer of the Academy and is the current Hub of PRO, the Producers Roundtable of Ontario (the largest independent feature film producer organization in Canada). Byron holds a degree in Film Studies from Ryerson University and an Honours Degree in Radio and Television Arts from Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.
