Film Award for Directorial Debut
Marcel Barsotti honored in Toronto for AI science fiction
Starnberg - A trophy for his directorial debut: Marcel Barsotti from Starnberg has won an honorary award at the International Peace Festival (IPF) in Toronto with his AI science fiction short film "Transformation".
The 13-minute film looks into the future and also examines the question of how and whether peace on the planet is possible (we reported). Barsotti accepted the award in person in the elegant King Edward Hotel. At a festival where, among others, the presenter Oprah Winfrey was honored as a peace ambassador.
Barsotti reports: "It was a fantastic event full of creative and emotional encounters with directors, producers, filmmakers, the German ambassador, the IPF vice president and many well-known personalities from the film industry." Having landed from Canada, Barsotti, who was previously known primarily as a film music composer ("The Popess", "The Miracle of Bern"), got on the train to Vienna. There he received another award at the Austrian Independent Film Festival in the Schikaneder cinema. The Starnberger has eleven nominations so far. He is particularly looking forward to his German premiere at the Biberach Film Festival at the end of October/beginning of November.
"Transformation" deals with the future of the earth, which is populated by a different species in the film, in a visually powerful and critical way. The feedback and assessments from production companies and festivals have been very positive so far.
